<image:title>Resource Library - Record Keeping Systems for Organic Certification - What it does Designed primarily for post-harvest data tracking and grain management. Users can track trucks after loading, have real time records of their storage capacity at various locations, manage contracts, and track deliveries. Notes For large operations with complex storage and contracting, this may be a good fit, but Bushel Farm has far more record keeping tools AND can be used to track inventory and storage. Cost Inquire for pricing</image:title>

<image:title>Resource Library - Record Keeping Systems for Organic Certification - What it does Provides activity tracking, mapping, and scouting records similar to other farm management systems. Notes • Has a focus on soil testing and precision fertilizer application, based on their own lab and recommendations. • Note however, that these are definitely NOT organic recommendations, and working with an organic agronomist is always recommended. Cost Approximately $2,000 annually.</image:title>

<image:title>Resource Library - Record Keeping Systems for Organic Certification - What it does Offers similar features to the above apps but is an open-source platform. This means it is co-developed by a large community, and users can modify the underlying code to sculpt it to their needs. Notes • The user interface is less polished and not as streamlined as other apps. • Best suited for DIYers and farmers who are comfortable customizing their software tools. Cost Free.</image:title>

<image:title>Resource Library - Record Keeping Systems for Organic Certification - What it does Functions like a digital notebook, essentially a carefully designed spreadsheet tool with forms that populate lists and generate reports for organic inspections. Notes • Has been around for a while and features a simple interface. • A farmer or advisor could create a similar tool using Google Forms and Google Sheets together, but COG Pro is already built. • For farmers new to organic record keeping, COG Pro can be an affordable and practical first step, providing structure and a clear understanding of what records are needed and how best to keep them. Cost Starting at $79 annually.</image:title>

<image:title>Resource Library - Record Keeping Systems for Organic Certification - What it does Founded by an organic farmer who wanted to share his time-tested record keeping systems. First available in 2023. Notes • Quick Organics appears to be a modernized version of COG Pro, featuring a simple and user-friendly interface. • Like COG Pro, it’s a system a farmer could build from scratch, but it benefits from the expertise of someone who has refined it through years of trial and error. <image:caption>This map shows the crop insurance availability across the United States for organic oats. The green areas are regions where RMA considers oats to be a typical crop - and for those areas RMA offers traditional coverage for organic oats. If a farmer is growing oats in a non-covered area (white zones on the map), they can obtain coverage for organic oats by submitting a written agreement.</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - Meeting Spec: Maintaining Quality in Stored Organic Grain - Sam Oschwald Tilton, Facilitator</image:title>
<image:caption>“I have worked with organic farmers all over the US and Canada to understand production systems and solve weed management issues. This past season, on farms and in winter conferences, I spoke with as many farmers and ag professionals as I could to understand the questions that organic producers have, and the experts that they’d like to learn from. Those conversations helped me identify the topics and guests for this series. I am excited to bring together a wide range of farmers and ag professionals from many backgrounds, all of whom have an experienced perspective to share. In each call I look forward to having an intelligent conversation with the guest that introduces the topic to those who are unfamiliar and also dives deep to bring further understanding and clear tips to listeners. After the conversation, we’ll take questions from listeners, so that they can communicate directly with each guest to get the answers that they need. My goal for this call series is to provide crucial information on topics facing organic and transition-curious farmers, in an approachable conversation that listeners can easily listen to during their lunch hour.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Clint Epley is a lifelong resident of Pana, IL, where he lives with his wife and daughter. He grew up on his family’s farm, which transitioned their 1,000 acres to organic in 1998. Clint has a Bachelor’s Degree in Ag Business and Agronomy and runs his family’s feed mills. He also helps manage his family’s 3,000 acre organic farm along with his great uncle Jack Erisman, and his father and brother. They grow corn, beans, small grains, and perennial forage. They have an organic cow/ calf grazing operation. Keeping animals on the farm has been an agricultural value since Clint’s great grandfather. Along with the County Board, Clint also serves on the Farm Bureau Board of directors, Pana Township Board, and Knights of Columbus.</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - Integrating Livestock Grazing on Grain Farms - a Zoom event - Knute Severson</image:title>
<image:caption>Knute Severson is a fifth-generation farmer and rancher. He graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in horticulture and a minor in agronomy and started his career as a salesman at a local cooperative in 2017. That same year, he and his wife (Amanda) started Grand View Beef, a 100% grass fed beef operation selling directly to end consumers. In 2019, Knute took ownership of the local Pioneer sales agency, where he started Agronomy First. With a passion for regenerative farming, he began offering custom drilling of cover crops, small grains, perennial grass mixes and soybeans. As a seed and chemical supplier, he encouraged and implemented multiple regenerative farming practices in partnership with area farmers. In August of 2025, Knute walked away from the Pioneer sales agency to dedicate his time fully to Grand View Beef and the transition of his farming acres to organic production. Grand View Beef's growth has enabled animal integration to become an important part of his century family farm's operation, diversifying crop rotations and reducing inputs all while increasing revenue for both his parents' operation and his own.</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - Organic weed control in vegetables - Kat Becker, Cattail Organics</image:title>
<image:caption>Kat Becker of Cattail Organics in Athens WI, is in her 20th season as an organic vegetable farmer. Kat brings a particular perspective to weed control after transitioning from Stoney Acres (2006-2017) to Cattail Organics (2017- Present). In the transition, she downsized from 14 acres in vegetables to 5, increased total gross sales and profitability, and used the lessons and limitations from her first farm business to develop new integrated systems. At Cattail, Kat farms with her husband and 2-4 employees. Her approach is based on a lean labor model dependent on lower weed pressure. Cattail has built a highly profitable system using a mixture of tillage (and reduced tillage) regimes, raised beds, extensive covered production, consistent rotations, synthetic mulches, and cover crops to limit weeding labor, address disease concerns, and reduce weed seed banks. Weed control systems are planned independently according to crop profitability, length of cropping season, and specific weed pressures in a given field.</image:caption>

After the conversation we’ll take questions from listeners, so that they can communicate directly with each guest to get the answers that they need. My goal for this call series is to provide crucial information on topics facing organic and transition-curious farmers, in an approachable conversation that listeners can easily listen to during their lunch hour.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - Organic Record Keeping, with a Farmer and Inspector - a Zoom event - Sam Oschwald Tilton, Facilitator</image:title>

<image:title>Events - Organic Advisor Call Series - Sam Oschwald Tilton, Facilitator</image:title>
